The MICE, the COVID and the future of tourism in Italy

MICE, the acronym by Wikipedia stands for Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. It’s a type of tourism in which large groups, usually planned well in advance, are brought together. (Recently there has been an industry trend towards using the term ‘meetings industry’ to avoid confusion from the acronym. Other industry educators are recommending the use of ‘events industry’ to be an umbrella term for the vast scope of the meeting and events and profession.)

Most components of MICE are well understood, perhaps with the exception of incentives. Incentive tourism is usually undertaken as a type of employee reward by a company or institution for targets met or exceeded, or a job well done. Unlike the other types of MICE tourism, incentive tourism is usually conducted purely for entertainment, rather than professional or education purposes. MICE events are usually centered on a theme or topic and are aimed at a professional, school, academic or trade organization or other special interest group.

Dolce Vita Experiences, as a MICE provider, is organizing team building games, incentives, city discovery games and workshops in Florence and Tuscany.

During the time of COVID-19, the coronavirus outbreak, not only tourism but large meetings are also prohibited for a long time which is not a good news for our industry, especially in Italy. Florence is in lock down since 50 days and the crisis took its toll on the city.

In this given moment we are unsure of the future. We don’t know when traveling to Italy will be possible again and probably even after borders are open again and flights are operating, organizing large gatherings will be still banned for a while.

In this uncertain period one thing is sure. After all the mental pressure of a lock down, people are craving for a holiday. They just can’t stop dreaming of that cappuccino served on a sunny square surrounded by renaissance buildings, to taste that delicious gelato next to the old bridge and to eat that homemade pasta again with the fresh, local ingredients. We need to travel, we need to forget. We need to experience the bright side of life as soon as possible!

Here at Dolce Vita Experiences, we are committed to deliver a safe but unforgettable experience to our future visitors. In the first phase of traveling – as soon as authorities will open the borders of Italy and travel will be safe again – we are going to focus on private travelers, small groups, unique workshops, local tourists and families. The beginning will be different for sure with many safety regulations, but Europe’s most exciting country, Italy will still charms visitors with its irresistible food, awesome architecture, diverse scenery and unparalleled art. The diversity of regional cuisine alone is worth travelling to Tuscany for. The famous Bistecca alla fiorentina (Florence’s iconic T-bone steak); the extra virgin olive oil, the local Chianti vine are just a few examples from the things you can taste with us.

Currently we closed all of our activities and we don’t accept new bookings for an uncertain time. But without hesitation and any doubts, you can contact us any time for a quote, a travel plan or some details about our tours and experiences. We are here and we can’t wait to share our knowledge with you!

Because soon ANDRÁ TUTTO BENE as the Italian says, meaning everything is going to be fine! And till it happens, dreaming is still allowed! So come and dream with us 🙂
